Smarty offers an on-board vehicle video event recorder and driver feedback system. Improve driver safety and fleet safety with Smarty products.

Smarty BX1000

Smarty is an in-vehicle camera that utilises state of the art technology to provide a simple black box recorder for any vehicle. It can be used in cars, trucks, buses, trains, trams forklifts etc. Plug into the lighter socket or connect to any 12volt power source, attach to the window and Smarty immediately starts recording video, GPS location, speed and any impact, sudden braking, hard acceleration or swerving incident is recorded by the G-Sensor.

Integrating with Google maps, the Smarty software viewer provides easy analysis of any incident location allowing video review and visual G-Sensor incident identification.
The Smarty Cam can record continuously for up to one week (167 hours) when in NORMAL 320x240 recording mode at 1 frame per second.bx30001
In EVENT mode (where only G-Sensor events are recorded) each event uses only 30 seconds of video time. Smarty can store up to 1,000 events per SD memory card. In case of an incident Smarty Cam records for 5 seconds after power has stopped.

Delta-V Experts sell a number of Smarty products which can be used for:

  • Passenger and driver safety device inside vehicles.
  • Can provide vital evidence of who was involved or at fault in a collision.
  • Can help to protect no-claims bonus and save paying any excess charges.
  • Offers defence against false fines and convictions.
  • Safe fuel and costs by monitoring journey, times, speed and excessive accelerations and braking.
  • An effective fleet management tool for monitoring staff journeys.

PC-Crash™  is a Windows™ 3D collision and trajectory simulation tool that enables quick and accurate analysis of a wide variety of motor vehicle collisions and other incidents. PC-Crash was developed by Dr. Steffan Datentechnik GmbH and has been the subject of nearly two decades of technical validation studies.  PC-Crash has been accepted in courts across North America and around the world.

PC Crash can simulate collisions of up to 32 vehicles in 2D and 3D. Car to car, car to motorcycles, car to pedestrian collisions can be calculated. Occupant movement and roll over can also be calculated.

PC-Crash is used by:

  • accident reconstructists
  • police stations
  • insurance companies
  • automotive industry
  • academic institutions

Features of PC-Crash 12.0 include:

  • Calculation of distance/time relationship (different diagrams with measurement-capabilities).
  • Automatic calculation of accident prevention potentials (e.g. accident avoidance velocity, necessary braking coefficients.......).
  • Automatic rendering of video animations (Fixed and variable camera positions).
  • Calculation of multiple collisions between several cars, 3-dimensional impact model (based on Kudlich-Slibar).
  • Automatic calculation of post collision movement until the vehicle’s rest position.
  • Indication of point of impact separation speeds or coefficient of restitution in impact calculations.
  • Automatic calculation of primary and secondary collisions using default parameters.
  • Simulation of movable load and its influence on the vehicles driving behaviour can investigated.
  • Defining and calculating brake force distributions between front and rear axle.
  • Extended kinematic modules for fast calculations of pre-impact, impact and post-impact movement, additional modules for velocity-distance-time calculations including avoidance, kinematic pedestrian calculation and overtaking calculations.
  • Automatic calculation of impact parameters (pre-impact speeds and point of impact location) with the collision optimizer using final stop positions
  • Pedestrian and motorcycle model (multi-body-model), the real vehicle shape is used in the calculation.
  • Scalable pedestrians by anthropometrical data.
  • Pre-processor to define and configure multi-body systems (pedestrians, motorcycles with drivers).
  • Tire contact mark calculation.
  • Limit method in the drawing program.
  • Four point measurement grip in the drawing program.
  • Crash backward calculation with combined momentum/moment of momentum.
  • Camera rotation with pitch/yaw.
  • Mesh model with X61/FCE vehicles.
  • EES calculation for crash 3 model.

Vehicle rollover is a major cause of death and injury in mining areas. Delta-V Experts designs Rollover Protection Systems to cutting edge safety standards, and backs them up with stringent design, computer modelling and physical testing regimes.

Our award winning Rollover Protective Structure designs are used by major mining and resource companies worldwide, such as BHP Billiton and Anglo American, with representation on four continents.

DVE has developed Rollover Protective Structural System solutions for light vehicles, utilities, trucks, buses and people movers. The Rollover Protective Structural Systems can be retrofitted to current fleets or specified as part of a new vehicle fit out. We can also tailor our designs to suit any specific site requirements, and can integrate the ROPS to cater for existing infrastructure and tools.

Our systems and methodology have received recognition via the Bronze Award at the SAE-A Automotive Engineering Excellence Awards 2008.

One of DVE's Range of Rollover Protection Systems

One of DVE's Range of Rollover Protection Systems. This one has been specifically designed to cater for style-side utility vehicles operating in the harshest mining conditions.

Delta-V Experts have developed a unique performance criteria for all of its ROPS designs, based on many years of research and an understanding of how rollover really works. Our experts have been extensively published and presented on numerous occasions and in conferences on the rollover topic. Computer modelling, static and dynamic tests have been carried out for validation purposes, and the systems have been proven in real world crashes. No occupant in vehicle with a DVE ROPS has been seriously injured or killed in a rollover event.

Delta-V Experts ROPS for light vehicles are currently manufactured and installed by the following companies:

  • Delta-V Experts South Africa

Delta-V Experts offers the following services to clients with specific Rollover Protective Structural System requirements:

  • A design service to create Rollover Protective Structural System for vehicles
  • A complete solution i.e. Rollover Protective Structural System fitted to your vehicles in your location

Delta-V Experts maintains a database of existing Rollover Protective Structural System designs and vehicle dimensions. If a similar vehicle Rollover Protective Structural System exists within the DVE database, DVE can work with local manufacturers to provide drawings and manufacturing instructions as required. If no similar vehicle Rollover Protective Structural System exists, the vehicle will need to be inspected, measured and a Rollover Protective Structural System developed and evaluated.

Delta-V Experts  in co-operation with its certified manufacturers and installers can provide Rollover Protective Structural Systems to any location worldwide.

Delta-V Experts is currently in the process of finalising agents for the sale and installation of its ROPS in Australia and in other regions. Please contact us for more information on our ROPS approach, our current products or any specific design queries.
