What is Forensic Engineering?

Forensic Engineering is the analysis and investigation of materials, components, structures and products that fail in order to identify the consequences and provide advice on the failure.

In English, we are engineers who have an interest in the analysis and reconstruction of events where an incident has occurred or something has gone wrong. This ranges from motor vehicle accidents (MVA’s) to product failures and personal injury. All of these items involve an exchange of energy which can be analysed by trained Forensic Engineers.  Where there is an exchange in energy, failure of a component or injury to a person or an occupant, an analysis of the forces involved can be undertaken.
