Truck Route Assessment Crash and Risk Reduction
Major collisions represent a significant financial, injury, fatality and legal liability risk for the entire trucking industry. Delta-V Experts (DVE) have developed a revolutionary method which uses the latest in modern technology to provide the transport industry with quantified route assessments to help significantly reduce the risk of rollovers and major collisions. We have called this the “Truck Route Assessment Crash and Risk Reduction” (TRACARR) system.
DVE uses state-of-the-art measurement equipment to determine the geometric road characteristics along a route. Combined with each heavy vehicle’s stability characteristics (loaded and unloaded) and modern GPS systems, the system gives drivers a real-time, advance warning of safe, realistic speeds for each curve or bend on the route. As part of the route assessment, DVE also examines any other potential hazards such as intersections, level crossings, bridges, adverse camber etc., to identify significant risks and specific risk reduction and driving strategies for the driver and fleet operator.
Because rollover stability decreases with the square of a vehicle’s speed it can be very difficult for drivers to know what safety margin they have around a bend. With TRACARR, the driver will no longer have to guess what speed is really safe, as he will be alerted in real time. Benefits
DVE’s TRACARR system provides clients, for the first time, with a fully quantified route map in electronic format which is linked to the heavy vehicle’s GPS system, giving real-time safe speed and risk warning for the whole route. This system provides peace of mind and support for chain of responsibility compliance requirements, and reduces the likelihood of severe collisions such as rollover, level crossing or other crashes. Whether or not the driver is familiar with the route, the DVE TRACARR system works all the time to warn drivers of hazards and improve safety.
The TRACARR system is suitable for all fleets, large or small, regardless of truck and load type and in rural and metropolitan areas.
