Tia Orton, a Californian native, joined DVExperts International Pty Ltd in October 2006. Tia completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (2001) in the United States at the University of California in Santa Barbara (UCSB). While at UCSB, Tia held the coveted position of Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Mechanical Engineering Drafting & Design. Fueled by her long-time desire to work in the automotive field, Tia obtained an Internship at General Motors in the Powertrain Division, located in Detroit, Michigan. Although she continued to work for General Motors after receiving her degree, Tia opted for a career in the field of independent transportation safety research in order to make a greater contribution to society. After General Motors, Tia returned to Santa Barbara, California to work for Safety Analysis and Forensic Engineering (SAFE) a leading US automotive safety research firm. Throughout her six-year term at SAFE, Tia became extremely proficient in automotive crashworthiness analysis, research and litigation support. Tia’s work at SAFE has included extensive analysis, testing and research related to vehicle rollover and other crash types. Much of the ground-breaking research that Tia encountered at SAFE was conducted by DVExperts International, leading to Tia taking a position working for DVExperts in Australia. In Australia Tia was delighted to participate in the diverse work conducted by DVExperts. Her unique talents gained in the USA, combined with her enthusiasm for making a difference, gave Tia a passion for improving transport safety through various DVExperts projects and investigations. Since joining DVExperts, Tia has worked on many different cases ranging from car, motorcycle, truck and bus collisions, pedestrian impacts, rollovers, and structural and road design. Tia has also authored numerous peer-reviewed technical publications and has presented research to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on various subjects related to vehicle design. As a result of increasing demand for the services offered by DVExperts in the USA (and abroad), Tia is heading up the launch of a DVExperts USA Office, based in San Francisco, California. Key Areas
