25 November saw the VTA and Delta-V Experts host the first Incident Response Workshop. Run by Dr Shane Richardson, Roger Sanders, Maxwell Shifman and Nikola Josevski from Delta-V Experts, 39 people from a variety of VTA member organisations attended the session which covered topics such as:
- What to do in the event of a crash or incident?
- What happens in different types of crashes?
- How to document a scene (including things to look for)?
- Legal rights and pathways following an incident.
Numerous examples and case studies were also provided to illustrate specific methods for collection of relevant evidence. Discussions were robust and suggestions for a standard industry response procedure were made.
The session concluded with a critical examination of the Victorian Coroner’s Chain of Responsibility Checklist, the results of which will be taken back to the Coroner by the Transport Industry Safety Group.
