Delta-V Experts are proud to announce that the Society of Automotive Engineers has accepted their paper, "Real World Experience of Roll Over Protective Structures for Civilian and Military Light and Heavy Vehicles", to be part of the proceedings at the SAE 2009 World Congress, held in Detroit, Michigan over 20-23 April. The paper was prepared by Shane Richardson, George Rechnitzer, Maxwell Shifman and Tia Orton of DVE, in conjunction with Steve Crocker, Avinash Ramharuk, Chris Jones and Pradeep Indurjit of DUYS Engineering.

The paper will be presented by Shane Richardson, and will outline DVE's experience in designing and implementing Roll Over Protection Systems for military, industrial and mining purposes, and the brilliant safety outcomes which have resulted. The presentation will occur during Session B37 - Occupant Protection: Rollover (Part 1 of 2) for all those who may be attending the conference.

Australian Transport News have prepared a feature on assisting Transport Operators to best deal with a death of one of thier employees:

Fatal road accidents impact everyone involved for the rest of their lives, from the families to the companies who employed the driver and especially the driver if he or she walks away.

Despite the emotional and fragile nature of the issue, if you don’t represent your company effectively in the first hours and days of a fatality, the costs could be significant years later, experts warn.

Operators are not always represented adequately by evidence secured from the scene. It can take years for these cases to commence after police have covered the scene. In some cases, two to five years can pass from the initial investigation before the case is heard in court.

As a result, lawyers and third-party investigative specialists agree you must act fast if you are to defend yourself properly in the years to come.

George Rechnitzer, Roger Sanders and Maxwell Shifman of Delta-V Experts were interviewed on their experience in incident investigation, and the most effective ways of ensuring the best possible outcome in the event of a serious collision.

An article by Dr George Rechnitzer has been featured in the November 2008 issue of WorkWISE, a publication dedicated to work-related death prevention:

We see in many investigations and Coronial Investigations in particular, the contribution of design inadequacies [in combination with human behaviour] resulting in fatal and serious injury outcomes. While such investigations and research identify areas for design improvements, it is amazing the resistance that is often met for practical, well understood interventions.
