Mobile Equipment Maintenance Audits
DVE's Mobile Equipment Maintenance Audits (MEMA) provide an independent assessment of a fleet's maintenance standards and compliance. Such assessments are vital to improving safety and help fulfil due-diligence obligations. The following areas of your systems and records are examined:
- Daily walk around checks - including whether sufficient instructions/training has been given to drivers and whether they appear to be carrying out checks correctly
- Driver defect reporting - including whether defects are being recorded, how accurately drivers are completing reports and what percentage of defect reports correctly record the remedial action taken
- Safety inspections - including checks on the planned programme for carrying out safety inspections, its compliance with VOSA recommendations, and whether the programme has been adhered to over the period covered by the audit. Inspection reports will be checked to determine whether they correspond with the current VOSA Inspection Manual and whether they have been correctly completed
- Maintenance facilities - including recording who undertakes inspection, maintenance and repair, checks on the equipment available for vehicle maintenance and the number of staff involved in the maintenance operation
- Quality monitoring - including reporting on who is responsible for undertaking quality control of your maintenance systems and whether annual test pass/failure rates and/or prohibitions (PG9s) are monitored
- Records - including checks on availability, filing and retention of periodic inspection reports and driver defect reports
- Vehicle condition - will be included in the audit if FTA's roadworthiness inspections have been set-up to be a part of the quality monitoring process. The acid test of any maintenance system is the condition of the vehicles. It is therefore essential that roadworthiness inspections are carried out to give you a full picture of your maintenance systems
- Audit of vehicle maintenance records
- Audit of recording of data
- Audit of tyre maintenance/records
- Inspection on a representative random sample of vehicles for overall roadworthiness
- Inspection of random sample of tyres fitted on vehicles
- Checking of brake systems, including all relevant aspects
A report will be provided including the following:
After compliance with the standards is established, Delta-V Experts will issue a written certificate to confirm that the company complies with these standards. Delta-V Experts will also guarantee backing for these processes and procedures in a Court of Law, if necessary. The certificate issued by Delta-V Experts will be valid for a period of six months, and will be renewed after subsequent audits. This certificate is not an official document, but a guarantee of professional and independent backing in Court cases, where the maintenance of the vehicle fleet may be the issue.
