Delta-v is synonymous with the first principle approach taken by DVE in all of its work. By understanding the fundamental physical laws, clients are assured of unbiased, accurate and relevant results. In general physics, delta-v ( ) is the change in velocity of an object. Newton's Second Law of motion states that the net force on a particle is proportional to the time rate of change of its linear momentum, which can be expressed (in a simplified form) as: Where the mass is constant, this can be expressed in the common form: In collision reconstruction, delta-v is used as an indicator of collision and potential injury severity. DVE’s investigation and analysis philosophy is founded in fundamental principles borne out by years of successful investigation, testing and outcomes. DVE believes firmly in the motto ‘failure to search is failureto find’ and, as such, carries out first hand inspection of sites [no matter where, or how long ago the incident was] and inspection of evidence and exemplar vehicles or products. DVE ‘digs deeper’ to ensure relevant information and evidence is identified. When warranted, physical testing and/or Computer Modelling (MADYMO, HVE, LS-DYNA, PC-CRASH) can be carried out to help provide further insight to incident circumstances. DVE also carries out research to further support findings for it various investigations and cases. While the cost of any undertaking is clearly important, DVE’s first priority is to provide the best quality and valuable service.
